400 Police Officers to Patrol Buses in Shenzhen
Aug 11, 2014 By eChinacities.com

From this month onwards, more than 400 police officers will be patrolling public busses during rush hours in Shenzhen. The officers will be inspecting security facilities on buses, as well as examining any ‘suspicious’ looking people or items.

The move comes after authorities in Xinjiang have adopted a policy of racial profiling on public transport and an increasing occurrence of arson attacks on buses; most recently in Guangzhou and Hangzhou, when a man poured banana oil all over the floor of a bus transporting 80 people and set it alight, injuring over 30.
