Jul 14, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A Shenzhen resident has become the first informant to collect a reward for reporting ‘terrorist activities’, according to Xinhua news. The man, surnamed Zheng, gave information to the police that led to the arrest of a criminal who was wanted by Xinjiang police.

The suspect had fled from Xinjiang to Shenzhen in June. The report didn’t mention what the man was charged with, or how much Zheng received for his efforts.

According to an earlier announcement, informants can receive cash rewards between 2,000 and 500,000 RMB for information that leads to arrests of potential terrorists.
