Confused Grandmother Puts Grandson Through X-Ray at Guangzhou Airport

Confused Grandmother Puts Grandson Through X-Ray at Guangzhou Airport
May 31, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Well, we’ve seen the scanning of human legs and attempts at smuggling tadpoles at the happening place that is Guangzhou’s Baiyun Airport, so it was only really a matter of time before a human got put through the X-ray machine.

At 07:25 on May 30, a woman named Chen was preparing to board a flight home. In her hand was handbag (80 cm in length) that contained her grandson, who was sleeping at the time. When Chen arrived at the security check, she saw that other passengers were putting all their carry-on luggage through the X-ray machines, and so did just that, with her grandson still inside.

Security personnel noticed something was amiss when they saw a baby pop up in the x-ray machine, and stopped the machine immediately. Chen stated that this was the first time she had ever taken a plane, and didn’t understand the security procedures (or the harm that X-ray radiation can do to humans).

She is an old lady. She made a mistake. It's an interesting story because it shows a common thing; older people unaware of the purpose of various technological machines the likes of which they have never seen. I give her a pass and wish her well.
