World famous director, Zhang Yimou, has been fined 7.4 million RMB for breaking China’s strict family planning laws. After claims were made that he had seven children, the director admitted that he had three children with his wife, but denied that he had fathered any children with mistresses.
Local authorities have said that the amount fined is based on the couple’s total income in the year the children were born: 2000, 2003 and 2005.
