On April 18, Time Magazine released their annual Time 100 list, which included both Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan.

This year, the list was divided into five categories; “Titans”, “Leaders”, “Artists”, “Pioneers” and “Icons”. (Xi was mentioned in the “Leaders” list, and Peng was placed in the “Icons” list).

In Xi’s entry, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger described him as having “the most important role” in China’s current “renaissance”.

Chinese tennis star Li Na was also included in list, in the “Heroes” and “Icons” categories, and was also selected as one of the seven people to appear on the cover of the Time 100 issue of the magazine.
