Shanghai has experienced some pretty terrible pollution levels in the last week. On Friday PM2.5 levels exceeded 600. One of our editors got stuck in Beijing on Thursday night because flights weren’t landing in Shanghai due to pollution.
Netizens took to the internet to find out how to breathe, and one lady’s machine caught people’s attention. While roaming the market doing her necessary shopping this woman was wearing an air purifying mask, one that came with a 15 kg machine strapped to her back.
When onlookers laughed and questioned her choice of air purifier her response was to the point, “You lot don’t want life, I want life! By myself I carry this purifier, let other people talk! This is the strongest equipment against PM 2.5 particles.”
Our guess, she went home smug, while those that laughed just went home smogged.

Protecting oneself should be done in the most ridiculous way, it's probably the safest way to show one's discontent without the risk of the government cracking down on you for disturbing peace and harmony. A true 'demonstration' against the pollution in China that will attract a lot of attention worldwide if enough people do it and make China lose face.
