At around 8:20 on June 18, some windows on a train on the Shekou Line of the Shenzhen subway suddenly burst, leading many commuters to jump out of the train’s windows in panic.

The windows reportedly burst when the subway was nearing Xiangmi Station, and it was when the train arrived at the station platform that many passengers hurriedly jumped out.

One netizen who was onboard the train in question later reported that when the windows burst, a whole manner of different items were left on the train as passengers scrambled to get off. It was reported that after a few minutes some people got back on the train, and it was only until the train arrived at subsequent Lianhua West Station that they began to hear safety announcements.

The subway authorities have apologized to passengers for the incident, the reason of which is still being investigated.
