For those of you currently in Shanghai there’s probably no need for us to remind you that IT’s REALLY HOT RIGHT NOW. So hot in fact, that Shanghai reached its hottest temperature for 140 years and is set to have its hottest July since 1934.
Anyway, some locals have been performing experiments on the street in the heat with some meat. Pork to be precise. This report showed that if a cut of streaky pork is placed on a marble surface in Shanghai’s current heat, it will become 80% cooked in just ten minutes.
The reporter, who was at the Shanghai People’s Square at the height of the afternoon on July 29, also placed a candle on the ground and reportedly saw it melt into wax within seconds. Groundbreaking journalism indeed.
