Shanghai Has Hottest Day in 140 Years; Set for Hottest July Ever
Jul 29, 2013 By eChinacities.com

It’s been a hot summer so far for Shanghai, with temperatures for most of July soaring above averages for the month. Shanghai also saw its hottest day in 140 years on July 26, with a temperature of 40.6℃ recorded at the meteorological station in Xujiahui.

Thanks to the current heat wave, Shanghai has now experienced 23 days in July with temperatures in the high 30s; the last time such a record was held was July, 1934. Since temperatures are expected to be around 38℃ tomorrow, it’s looking like this record will be broken.

The high temperatures are also expected to continue into August – so stay cool!
