Tougher Regulations Mean Beijing Taxis Face Hefty Fines for Bad Service

Complaints regarding the refusal of rides, unnecessary detours, bargaining and other service-related issues with taxis in Beijing will now be handled within 10 days, according to new regulations that went into effect on May 2.

Taxi drivers who receive more than three complaints within the space of six months, will have to pay a fine of 28,000 RMB. Similarly, three complaints results in a 15,000 RMB fine, two complains results in a 5,000 RMB fine and one complaint results in a 3,000 RMB fine.
