Shenzhen Government Drafts China's First "Good Samaritan Law"
Dec 02, 2011 By eChinacities.com

In light of the recent Xiao Yueyue tragedy, The Shenzhen Municipal Government recently released "Shenzhen SEZ Regulations for Protecting Good Samaritan Behaviour (draft)" for public comment. The regulation stipulates that besides cases of gross negligence, Good Samaritans cannot be held liable when trying to save someone in need. Those who conceal or distort the facts, or try to frame a Good Samaritan will be ordered to publicly apologise, and those who are suspected of fraud will be fined or detained. According to legal experts, if this regulation is implemented, it will fill the current gap in the related legislation.
