Shenzhen Elementary School Swears in First Foreign Vice Principal

A Shenzhen public school has sworn in the first foreign school vice principal in the the city’s history of the public school system as a part of a continued effort to make education in Nanshan District more international.

Dr Elisabeth Montgomery is from the US and has over 15 years teaching experience. She had her first day at the Experimental School of the South University of Science and Technology on Monday and she will be overseeing teaching at the school.

Having lived in Shenzhen for many years, Dr Montgomery can speak Mandarin and her daughter attends a local elementary school.

The school principal, Zhang Fan, envisions the school to be ‘an international school with Chinese characteristics’.
