Yesterday Kuaibo Science and Technology Company Ltd became the subject of a police investigation. The Shenzhen based company has been disseminating pornographic and pirated materials according to a sizable number of informants.
The media player and search engine is considered a necessity for Zhainan (a translation of the Japanes word Otaku; meaning a guy who stays at home and plays computer games all the time).
Using Kuaibo, it is very easy and convenient to search for pirated or pornographic content as it operated in a grey area. It very quickly gained a large following of loyal customers.
The investigation comes as part of a wider operation to ‘clean up’ the online media industry.
