Shanghai has won its bid to host the 2015 figure skating championships. The International Figure Skating Association officially made the decision during an annual meeting in Dublin, Ireland in June.

This is the highest level figure skating competition in the world after the Winter Olympics and over 200 of the top athletes from over 50 countries will take part.

The event will take place in the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center.

The World Figure skating championships date all the way back to 1896. China first participated in 1980 and has won the championships six times.
