Shanghai Woman and German Man Trick Elite Social Circle out of 400 Million RMB
Jun 10, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A woman from Shanghai and a German man tricked a group of wealthy Shenzhen residents out of millions of RMB by claiming that they were heirs to an old wealthy German family.

Through a series of false investments in diamond mines and real estate, the pair managed to defraud 7 people between 2007 and 2010. The Guangdong High Court discovered that Cheng Li, the woman, scammed people out of over 300 million RMB whilst the German man whose name was given as Robert, accumulated over 140 million RMB of dodgy wealth.

The two were sentenced recently with Cheng receiving a life sentence and confiscation of all personal property, whilst Robert was sentenced to a relatively light eight years in prison, a fine of 1.2 million RMB and deportation.

"German man whose name was given as Robert, accumulated over 140 million RMB of dodgy wealth." "Robert was sentenced to a relatively light eight years in prison, a fine of 1.2 million RMB and deportation." lol? a fine example of how the mighty justice system in China works. I got same opinion for the victims with guest2508756, most Chinese and Asians are kissing foreigner's ass (mostly white) blindly.

I'm surprised too that the German guy received 8 years and deportation. There had to be more from the German governmental side of this. This type of con man probably has connections in many areas...besides money talks in China. His fine was 1.2 million yet he stole around 140 million. Where did all of that money go?
