Shanghai Railway Bureau Releases Predictions for May Day Holiday
Apr 29, 2014 By eChinacities.com

The Shanghai Railway Bureau has estimated that there will be a staggering 130 million people passing through Shanghai between April 30 and May 3.

The busiest times will be in the afternoon on April 30 and the morning of May 1 when a predicted 430, 000 people will be travelling.  Tickets are rapidly selling out on routes to Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing and Hunan. The transport authorities are urging people to book as quickly as possible and to book online to avoid lines at the train station.

The highest selling tickets are high speed train routes between coastal cities such as Shanghai-Nanjing and Shanghai-Hangzhou. There are still tickets available to Fuzhou, Xiamen and Qingdao but these are expected to soon sell out as well.
