Russia has opened its largest casino in the Primorye entertainment zone on the outskirts of Russian coastal city Vladivostok. Russia hopes to attract 500,000 annual visitors to the area from Russia, northeast China, Japan and South Korea.

The opening ceremony was held for the new casino on October 8. The local government has reported to have received 10.4 billion Yuan (100 billion rubles) in foreign investment in the area.

10 or so hotels and resorts will be constructed in the area by 2020. The entertainment zone is accessible by the Vladivostock airport. A spokesperson for the project said that the casino “meets international standards,” and pointed out that Vladivostock is an ideal location as it is close to Russia’s border with northern China.
