Price Changes on Guangzhou’s Water Bus Announced October 14
Oct 16, 2013 By eChinacities.com

On October 14 Guangzhou’s price bureau announced two public transport schemes. The price of Guangzhou water buses will now depend on how far you are going. Any journey over 10 km will accrue increased cost. However, the most expensive a ticket will be capped at 5 RMB. On the 13 routes that are less than 10 km the price will remain 2 RMB.

In addition, all ferry and water buses (excluding car ferries) will be included within Guangzhou’s metro price range. So if you use your transport card more than 15 times you enjoy a 40% discount on fares.

I was wondering why I got the discount yesterday, good to hear this news. The new water bus lines are truly fantastic. For 2 to 5 rmb you get a comfortable seat and table to eat or have a drink, study, and enjoy the views along the river. I hope they eventually extend some of the lines past sunset, right now the last boat is usually around 6:30pm.
