72 Hour Visa-Free Entrance to Guangzhou Becomes a Reality on Aug 1

72 Hour Visa-Free Entrance to Guangzhou Becomes a Reality on Aug 1
Jul 24, 2013 By eChinacities.com

As of August 1, Guangzhou will implement a ruling that allows foreigners with a visa or flight ticket to a third country to enter China visa-free for 72 hours.

The ruling differs slightly from the visa-free policies already present in Beijing and Shanghai, as the 72 hour time limit will begin at midnight on the day after travelers arrive in Guangzhou as opposed to immediately after the visa-free documents are processed. For example, if a passenger arrives in Guangzhou on August 1, the 72 hour period will begin at midnight on August 2 and will end on August 4 at 23:59.

When looking at most of the times of current international flights that arrive in Guangzhou’s Baiyun Airport, this means that foreigners could be able to stay in Guangzhou for up to 96 hours without a visa.

Following the policy, Baiyun Airport has set up visa-free processing admittance centers as well as currency exchange points and duty free areas.

Below is a table depicting the citizens of the countries eligible for the 72 hour visa-free policy.
