The national holiday coordinating office conducted an online survey on October 10, asking netizens their opinions on the national holiday arrangement. The poll asked participants whether they were happy with holiday schedule, whether long holidays should be continued and whether people should work on weekends to make up for time lost at work. Not surprisingly, the majority of people expressed dissatisfaction with the current arrangement.

By 12:00 on October 11, one million people had participated in the poll on ifeng.com; 96% of the participants were aged between 20-60 and the majority worked for enterprises and government-related organizations. Of those, 65.17% indicated they were not happy with the current arrangement and opposed working on the weekends. Similar views were also expressed on surveys conducted on Sina, QQ and Sohu.
