Naked Officials Now to be Barred from Top Jobs

Naked Officials Now to be Barred from Top Jobs
Jul 16, 2014 By eChinacities.com

‘Naked Officials’-government officials whose families emigrate abroad- will be barred from top government positions from now on.

This means that the families of anyone hoping to join the top ranks in the Party comitteee, People’s Congress or judicial system, as well as top positions in the fields of business, economics, military and science must stay put.

Current ‘Naked Officials’ have been ordered to bring their families back to China or face demotion or dismissal. They have come under fire in recent years after wide speculation on how civil servants can afford to move their families abroad.

The move is the latest in an anti-corruption drive led by Xi Jinping’s government. This week, Rui Chenggang, a prominent CCTV financial journalist was detained on anti graft charges.

There is nothing to laugh about if your country does the same. especially when its own officials had already had plans to run away when they have reap enuf money from bribery that may affect common people's life safety and tax money.. I am sure u wont be laughing when something happens on your side that affects your family's safety and ur tax money.

I actually think this is a great move and has nothing to do with hostages. Being involved in the government of a country while your family lives elsewhere creates a huge conflict of interest. In theory as a resident of a country your interests align somewhat with good governance, if you basically live abroad your best interest is to just milk China for all it's worth and give it to your family in a nicer country. Not saying that's not going to happen anyway but it's a step in the right direction. It's the same logic that causes public schools in pretty rich cities like NY to be total shit...the people with options/influence send their kids to private school and then don't have any stake in having good local schools.
