Pang Guoqin, the Beijinger who circled the city’s Second Ring Road on his motorcycle in 13 minutes and 42 seconds and posted the feat online, was sentenced to 3 months in jail and fined 3,000 Yuan for the crime.

Pang was tried and sentenced today by Beijing’s Dongcheng District Court. He was found guilty of “dangerous driving.”

In late August, Pang drove around the ring road at 237 kilometers per hour and posted it online. The video quickly went viral, and Pang was detained by police on October 1.

It was found later that Pang did not have the proper license for his Yamaha R1 bike. In the video, he speeds and drives dangerously by repeatedly changing lanes and not following traffic signals.

It is a good excuse for authorities to slap restrictions on big bikes. Doesn't do anything to help promote motorcycling. This guy could have found a race track or drag strip

One dangerous driver gets a slap on the wrist for endangering people's lives, so Chinese cops can pat themselves on the backs, and go back to being useless.

Driving at 237km/hour and then posting evidence of your crime on social media is a pretty special kind of stupid. If you make it really easy to convict you, then you are going to get prosecuted.
