“Stop the plane, I need my cigarettes!” was possibly what was said by a senior military officer as he instructed his female deputy to order a plane from Guiyang to Hong Kong to be delayed.
According to information on Weibo, the incident occurred on May 5 on board a Hong Kong Airlines flight. The military officer asked a flight attendant if the plane could be delayed so she could rush out and purchase cigarettes for her boss. Her request was denied, obviously. The flight was already set for takeoff when the attendant told her “Sorry, I can’t make all these passengers wait while you go and buy cigarettes. I’m closing the cabin door now, please don’t interfere with our takeoff.”
Hong Kong Airlines confirmed the story as true on May 6. When the post went up, the flight attendant received a lot of support from netizens.
