On September 2 McDonald’s China announced that they had already found a new vegetable supplier, who will start supplying all Shanghai stores on September 12, and will supply McDonald’s stores throughout the entire country starting in the third week of September.

The new company, Creative Food Group, was set up in 2000, and has a head office in Shanghai. This is also KFC’s main vegetable supplier.

McDonald’s is also receiving some supplies from the Australian company,Golden State Foods, from which they are only planning to import some ingredients in the short term.

This screw up with their suppliers has to be absolutely killing the sales and profits in the stores. If you look at the menu now in my city, the breakfast menu has just 2 sandwiches in which to choose. They are advertising a chicken sandwich with sauce on top with no vegetables, and some black and white dessert with fries. They have no rice, no wraps, and the Big Mac no longer is on the menu. What an epic fail by McDonald's to put all their trust in one supplier. Hope come October they revamp the menu and come up with something new. With people avoiding their shops since everything is "meiyou", they may have a tough time luring people back in.
