A 35 year old man in Macheng, Hubei Province, entered a school yesterday, May 20, and attacked first and second graders with a kitchen knife. He injured eight of the young pupils before he was stopped, but he fortunately did not manage to fatally injure any of the kids.
Local police are still investigating the motive. This is not the first attack of this nature with similar incidents taking place in April 2014 in Ankang and last year in Maiming. Officials in the education sector have ordered the government to install stricter security measures in schools to avoid further such incidents.
