Guangzhou Police Authorities announced today that around 11:30 this morning there was a knife attack at the plaza of Guangzhou Train station. Four men armed with knives and attacked passengers at the station, injuring six.

The police arrived fairly promptly to the scene and shot one of the attackers, after repeated warnings. One has been arrested so far but two have evaded capture and are still at large. The injured people are currently in hospital being treated.

The motive and identities of the attackers are yet to be confirmed, but there will no doubt be a lot of speculation and comparison to similar attacks that have taken place in Kunming and Urumqi in recent months.
