Jaycee Chan Sentenced to Six Months- Out by Chinese New Year
Jan 09, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Jaycee Chan, son of kung fu star Jackie Chan has been sentenced to six months in jail and fined 2,000 RMB for accommodating drug users, BBC reports.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of ‘providing a shelter for drug use’ in Dongcheng People’s Court, which carries a heavier sentence than personal use in China.

The relatively light sentence was recommended in light of Chan’s good behaviour and the fact that he voluntarily confessed.

He was arrested in August alongside Taiwanese actor Kai Ko, as part of a wider crack down on drug use in the city. Ko was released after 14 days administrative detention.

As the sentence dates back to first day of detention, which was August 14, 2014, Chan will be released on February 13 2015, meaning he will be able to return home for Chinese New Year.

CCTV reports that 32 year old confessed to police that he has been using drugs for eight years.

One of my students told me he would get the mandatory 3 years sentence and pay for his crimes. I just laughed and told him he was being naive and his money and daddy would get him out with little time to spare.

"The relatively light sentence was recommended in light of Chan’s good behaviour and the fact that he voluntarily confessed." I'm sure that's the only reason.
