More details have emerged regarding the attempted attack on a primary school in Hubei Province on June 10.

The man who entered a primary school armed with explosives and attempted to hold a class hostage yesterday, has been identified as a 57 year old ex-soldier surnamed Zhang.

He carried out the attempt after a dispute over land requisition with local authorities. The grandson of one of the Xuqiao Village committee members involved in the dispute, Mr Xu, is a pupil in the class that was taken hostage.

After he entered the classroom with the explosive device, the class teacher and a deputy secretary volunteered themselves as hostages in order to protect the children.

Zhang was shot dead by police when he began pouring gasoline on a hostage during negotiations.

The attack is the latest in a series of incidents involving primary school students across China.

The police did a good job to shoot him down! I guess the parents of kids were going to peel his skin alive and feed the dogs.
