High Speed Railway Tested in Xinjiang: Urumqi to Lanzhou in only 9 hours
Jun 05, 2014 By eChinacities.com

The Lanzhou Xinjiang railway line ran its first tests yesterday morning, marking the countdown to Xinjiang’s first high speed railway.

The journey took 9 hours from Xinjiang to Lanzhou, nearly half the original journey length of 16 hours. When the line officially opens it’s expected to cut the travel time across country from Beijing to Urumqi by about half, for those of you who are tough enough to brave the epic train journey.
