Xinjiang Police Seize 1.8 Tons of Explosives in Raid Operation
May 28, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A police raid in the Xinjiang Prefecture of Hotan on May 27, lead to the arrest of five suspects and the seizing of around 1.8 tons of explosives. The police force also carried out similar raids in other parts of the autonomous region after the region began a one year initiative against terrorist violence which will run from now until June 2015.

The move was also provoked by last week’s bombing in Urumqi that left 39 people dead and many more injured. The troubled area has had a rough time of late, to say the least, which seems set to continue.
