Heightened Security on Shenzhen Metro to Become the Norm

Heightened Security on Shenzhen Metro to Become the Norm
Aug 12, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Shenzhen Municipal Government has decided that from August 15, stricter security measures will be implemented across the entire Metro network. Metro authorities will adopt a policy that any liquids will be seized and every doubt will be acted upon to prevent illegal substances from being brought onto trains.

From now on, regardless of the size of the luggage or how busy and crowded the station is, every bag or package must be screened by security.

In addition, there will also be an increased police presence at every station to deal with people who are uncooperative or who try to smuggle contraband onto the subway.

Hopefully the Shenzhen Metro security personnel will be less overzealous than their counterparts in Beijing, who caused insane delays when new security measures were put into place in May.
