German Media: NSA Surveyed Former Chinese Leaders, Companies
Mar 24, 2014 By eChinacities.com

German news agency, Der Spiegel, has reported, after viewing documents from the NSA leaked by Edward Snowden, that the agency was closely monitoring Chinese leaders, ministries and some companies. Among the targets were, Chinese president at the time, Hu Jintao, the Chinese Trade Ministry, several banks, and Huawei, the rapidly growing internet provider.

It is said that the cyber-raid on Huawei was the most successful and that the NSA had hacked into the company’s database which contained all company emails as well as source codes for their products. The reasoning by the NSA for their focus on the internet services provider was that “many of our targets communicate over Huawei produced products, we want to make sure that we know how to exploit these products."
