Fudan University has been accused of plagiarizing its official 110th anniversary video. Fudan's video is very similar to a 2014 University of Tokyo's promotion video.

Fudan's short film, titled, “To My Light,” depicts a female Fudan graduate who has become aeronautical engineer roaming around the campus wearing a flight suit. The woman finally takes off her flight helmet, to begin a new journey.

The film is eerily similar to the University of Tokyo's 2014 film “Explorer,” which shows a female astronaut walking around the campus in a space suit, and ends with her taking off her space helmet. The camerawork in the two movies is also very similar.

The producer of the film and the deputy director of Fudan's Publicity Department both deny the allegations. “The script was written independently.” The director of the film, He Yi, declined to comment.

The film was made by a production team from Fudan University and Shanghai in a visual studio.

Netizens said that if in fact the video was plagiarized then that is, “absolutely inexcusable.”
