Torrential rain and floods that have been creating chaos in Southwestern China this week are forecast to continue, warns the National Meteorological Center.

Floods and thunderstorms have claimed hundreds of lives and displaced tens of thousands of people in the past few months, as well as causing millions of RMB’s worth of damage.

Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and Yunnan are the most likely to be in danger of disasters triggered by the rainstorms, such as flooding and landslides.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Rammasun which devastated the Philippines and killed at least 10 people this week, is headed to China’s South Coast. The hurricane is expected to hit landfall in Guangdong tomorrow afternoon. Gale force winds and torrential downpours are to be expected until Saturday.
