Drone Sales Halted in Beijing Until After September 3
Aug 27, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Beijing has said “no,” to drones, in the weeks leading up to the September 3 “VDay” holiday. Drones and other aerial crafts like model planes and hot air balloons have been banned within a 300 km radius of Tiananmen Square from August 22 to September 4.

JD and Taobao have suspended the sale of drones in Beijing until September 4, in preparation for the capital's military parade.

The ban is so strict that users can no longer search the term “drone,” on JD and Taobao. If users enter specific brands and product information for a drone, they will still get results, but are unable to order until after September 4.

Drone sellers have confirmed that online sales have been temporarily suspended, and that while this has impacted domestic sales in the short-term, they are sell able to export drones overseas without a problem.
