At around 15:00 on December 9 a large group of people destroyed the front of Guangzhou’s Elizabeth Women’s Hospital. Windows were smashed and it took more than 20 police officers to restore order. The crowd was angry on behalf of Ms Peng.

On November 26, when she was more than 8 months pregnant, Ms Peng experienced some bleeding and went to Elizabeth’s hospital to be checked out. The hospital’s response was to give her some medicine to prevent a miscarriage but no one actually did an examination or ensured that they had dealt with the problem she was having. The next morning she went back again, only to be told now that her baby had died and that they must induce labor. Ms Peng lost her baby boy.

The family tried to get in contact with the hospital to find out how this had happened, but they never got a reply, so on December 9 they turned up with banners, blocked traffic and were ready to cause some trouble.

The incident is currently under investigation.

Trying to give your patient the best possible care and failing, or not giving a fuck and failing are two different things. I could understand the woman getting a miscarriage because there was nothing they could've done to help, but their refusal to even try and help her out is just horrible. I hope their barricading/assaulting the place will force people to look into the hospital and improve the situation there so all was not in vain, and I hope the prosecution will go easy on them considering circumstances (as I'm assuming they will be charged with something?). On another note, I had a similar experience when I went to hospital to get some minor surgery. The doctor couldn't give a shit less about whether or not he performed the procedure well, or whether there were ways to lessen the pain I was going through at the time.

the medical treatment in china is a joke anyways. the only thing they care about is money. if you have an operation the give you half painkiller then they cut and ask if it hurts. if you say yes they ask you if you want more painkillers, if you say yes they say ok you have to pay

The hospitals in China are inhumane. They don't give a fuck about anything nor do they have any morality. Those alleged nurses are good for picking up trash. They were told to do one thing and if you ask them to do anything else, they can't, they are dumb as fuck. Don't go to the Huashan in Shanghai, this hospital is a piece of shit, they treat people like animal, they rather let you die than treat you. I'm Chinese, so I'm speaking what I've experienced.
