Countries Implement Milk Powder Restrictions to Counter Chinese Demand
Apr 09, 2013 By eChinacities.com

On April 8, the Financial Times reported that Britain’s biggest supermarket chains—Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda, and Tesco—have all begun implementing restrictions on the purchase of milk powder, with customers only being able to two cans a time.

These measures areseen as directlyrelated to the recent coverage of Chinese rushing to buy milk powder in places like Hong Kong, according to British media sources, calling the Chinese demand for foreign-made milk powder “terrifying.”

In the last few months, supermarkets in many countries including Germany, New Zealand, and Australia have also implemented similar restrictions.
