According to recent reports, some state-level government agencies have begun to ban the use Microsoft Office productivity suite and instead have ordered the use of Chinese-made OS.
This latest move follows a ban on Windows 8 in government procurement, introduced in May.
Beijing has sped up its pace of ousting US-made IT products from government agencies since the US government in May accused five Chinese military officials of cyberespionage.
"The incident shows increasing concerns about information security by the Chinese government, from both infrastructure and application perspectives, especially considering the increasing terror attacks in the country," said Charlie Dai, principal consulting analyst at Forrester Research.
