China has released a legal guide covering dos and don'ts for foreigners visiting the country during the Olympic Games this August.

Posted on the official website of The Beijing Organizing Committee for the 29th Olympiad (BOCOG), the guide includes 57 question-and-answer-type items for foreign athletes, officials, reporters and tourists.

Among the rules listed is a ban on the display of ''insulting slogans and banners in sports venues and of those regarding religion, politics and race at Olympic venues.'' The rules also stipulate that, ''To maintain the public hygiene and civilized image of cities, sleeping outdoors is banned in such public venues as airports, bus stations, piers, sidewalks and urban greenbelts''.

China's policy of having foreign guests register at local police stations within 24 hours of arrival is reiterated in the statement. This however applies only to guests who do not stay in hotels - hotel staff will take care of this procedure on behalf of their guests.
