“Beijing is Gone”: PM2.5 in the Capital Close to 1,000

This morning, at 6 am, Beijing was still submerged in gray. Outside the air was odorous. The whole city is still covered in severe pollution. In southwest Beijing, PM2.5 readings have hit 796. Online, Netizens have commented, “Beijing is gone.”

Yesterday, the capital also experienced severe pollution, and the level six orange pollution warning remains in effect today. The Municipal Metrological Observatory also released an orange alert, its first of the year. Yesterday morning, the Central Meteorological Station also upgraded its alert to orange.

This serious pollution wave began on November 27 and has lasted four days. It has been the most severe pollution wave of this year.

Yesterday, PM2.5 in southwest Beijing reached 945. At 5 pm, it was 976. PM2.5 in southern Beijing hit 897. At 2 am, strong cold air from the north helped clear the air slightly. 

The pollution is expected to clear from December 2 to 4, as the weather changes and good air will return.

Now my area in Jiangsu is bad . I swear they're polluting everywhere to make Beijing look no worse than anywhere else. If Beijing has bad air so be it but don't pollute other areas to make Beijing seem not so bad. I was recently in Beijing and told some locals how much better my area was . Now where I am is bad. Leave it to Beijingers to be jealous of other areas' air and complain that other areas are better. I wouldn't put anything past Beijingers or the powers that be .
