Beijing Beefs up Security with 150 Armed Vehicles
May 12, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Beijing is introducing even more security measures, as the country responds to increasing fear of terrorist attacks. From 09:00 this morning, 150 armed vehicles have started patrolling the streets of Beijing. Each vehicle carries nine police officers plus four deputies, who will be armed with guns and will be patrolling crowded areas and possible targets.

The cars will be parked on main intersections of particularly crowded streets, in order to be at the ready in case of incidents of mass violence, involving explosives or firearms, or terrorist attacks.

Since the devastating attack at a Kunming train station in March, big cities around the country have been taking extra security precautions against potential terrorist threats.

I was just thinking that checking papers and having the right to search anyone they want was not going far enough. It is about time the government crack down on the people, what with all their freedom, protesting and freewill.....
