According to the China Comment Journal, every minute, six people in China are diagnosed with cancer. The young and the elderly are reportedly most at risk.

Doctors have noted the prevalent rise of lung, breast and colorectal cancers in recent years, as well as a rise in the amount of women suffering from cancer. Chen Wangqing, Vice Director of the National Cancer Prevention and Control Research Office, stated that 85 to 90 percent of lung cancers were related to smoking, while 20 percent of cancer deaths in China were related to diet and lifestyle.

The report stated that pollution is also a major factor in the rise of cancer, and there are now more and more young people contracting cancer in China than ever before.

The report also said that there are 3.12 million new cancer cases every year in China, and two million deaths.
