The groundbreaking ceremony for Beijing’s Universal Studios was held yesterday. 50 billion Yuan has been invested in the construction of the world’s largest theme park. The park is expected to open in 2020, and will be located between Jingha Highway and the East Sixth Ring Road.

The Universal Studios theme park will cover an area of 4 square kilometers. An area of 1.59 kilometers, which includes the theme park itself, the City Walk, Universal Hotel, Connaught Hotel and parking facilities, will be constructed first.

The theme park will be the third Universal Studios in Asia and will be larger than the 1.2 square kilometer park in Osaka, Japan, and five times the size of Universal Studios Singapore.
