Courier companies are expecting the usual increase in online shopping around Single’s Day; when those who are single are encouraged to treat themselves or their friends by eating, partying, or gift-giving.

This is encouraged with outrageously big discounts on most online shopping platforms as well as in various shopping malls around the country.

The Shanghai Daily reports that Guo Pengcheng, who works at Shanghai Yunda Express Co., has recruited 10,000 temporary workers, added 1,000 trucks and 50,000 square meters of storage space to cope.

An estimated 27,000 online stores on Tmall and Alibaba are estimated to take part in the holiday.
