2 Surviving Pigs Dug Up 45 Days after Ya’an Quake

On June 4, 45 days after the tragic Ya’an earthquake, two live pigs were miraculously dug up from the ground in nearby Xueshan Village.

During the quake, their 3 square meter pigsty suddenly collapsed which saw the pigs become trapped inside. It is believed that after this, the pigs weren’t even able to stand up and thus didn’t consume any energy, which could have caused them to die. Some have said that the pigs survived by drinking rain water and eating soil.

When they were pulled out, the pigs were noticeably slimmer, and weighed around 25kg as opposed to 40 previously. The overjoyed owners are now ensuring that the pigs are well-fed.
