Obama Shuns Chinese-Owned Waldorf Astoria Hotel Amid Rising Tensions
Sep 14, 2015 By eChinacities.com

U.S. President Barack Obama will break tradition by not staying at the Chinese-owned Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City during the UN General Assembly later this month.

The Waldorf Astoria was previously acquired by a Chinese insurance company. White House spokesman Josh Ernest denied that the president is not staying at the hotel because of espionage concerns on Friday, but noted that security had to be taken into consideration when choosing a hotel.

Ernest said that Obama and the U.S. delegation will stay at the nearly New York Palace Hotel.

The landmark luxury hotel was acquired last year by the Anbang Insurance Group for $1.95 billion.

Over the years, the Waldorf Astoria housed numerous world leaders during the UN General Assembly including past presidents of the United States.

I live in NYC, and most of the folks I know go to this hotel to smoke meth. A lot of meth heads running around this hotel. Quite an entertaining scene, but you can't have the POTUS around meth. He might be tempted.
