Grandpa Can’t Walk So Boy Catches 124 Scorpions to Make Wonder Medicine

10-year-old Li Shuang, who lives in Machong Village near Zhumadian, Henan, recently conquered his fear of scorpions and went out into the wild to catch some – all in an effort to soothe the pain of his ailing grandfather.

His grandpa, Li Chengye, 81, recently had some nasty leg pain which crippled him so much that Li Shuang had to push him in a wheelbarrow to take him to see a doctor. The doctor declared (in typical shaman fashion) that essence of scorpion was required to make the right medicine for Li’s grandpa.

Up until now, Li Shuang has caught a total of 124 scorpions which, after being infused into the medicine, have done mysterious wonders for Li Chengye’s leg – and he can now walk again.

So there you have it – a touching story that hails the apparent wonders of both filial piety and TCM. Still, whatever you think, at least it’s slightly more tasteful than this.
