“China Not Ready for Mass Insect Diet,” Expert Warns

Right, because the consumption of insects and strange animals in general is totally not a thing in China.

Entomologist (insect geek) Gao Xiwu has stated that, despite being one of the world’s largest insect-consuming countries, China is not ready for the mass consumption of insects. The statement comes after the UN Food and Agricultural Organization said that the regular eating of insects and arachnids such as spiders and scorpions, which are often high in protein and vitamins, could protect the environment and help solve the food crisis.

Gao mentioned the health risks involved in the consumption of insects, and said, “A clear and comprehensive food safety standard is needed to pave the way for promoting insects as food.”

On the subject of safety, Gao’s statement may reflect the concerns held by many of us who have dared to devour a scorpion on one of our “let’s do something crazy in China” moments.

Insect diet does not sound quite hygienic as these insects carry diseases which they can transfer to humans if they are included in your diet. For more details you can [Pest Exterminator](http://termitesvic.com.au/pest-control/exterminators) online
