Seaside Scenery Coffee is a national chain of cafes, with more than a dozen branches in Taiyuan. The branch located opposite of Mianhua, Yingze District lane has the best reputation. Occupying two stories with 7 private rooms, all with beautiful furnishings, the café is an ideal place for a casual dinner with friends or a date with someone special.  The coffee here is done right, with Belgian coffee, pure Blue Mountain, Italian cappuccino and Royal coffee available. The price is also quite reasonable at 20-30 yuan per cup. Also available is a western style buffet with salad bar, snacks and desserts. The Italian style grilled beef tenderloin and selected French lamb chops are all worth a try. There is also afternoon tea, with two types of set meals available.

This café does this well, although the space is small, it’s very warm and comfortable with large floor to ceiling windows for enjoying the nightly view. While the décor is both clean and elegant, there is a wall with the owner’s own graffiti giving this café a special personal and stylish atmosphere. Lavie not only has authentic coffee, it also provides western food, drinks and desserts. The house tiramisu is their signature dish, full of the fragrant aroma of espresso; it’s definitely worth a try.
