Since Qingdao and South Korea are only separated by one small body of water, it makes sense that Qingdao would become a beacon for Korean industry in China. And these days, elements of Korean fashion, culture and entertainment can be found all over the city. Authentic Korean cuisine is also quite ubiquitous around Qingdao, so if you're a fan of bibimbap and barbecue, you're in luck!

1) Hanshunyuan Korea Charcoal Barbeque Store View In Map
The relaxed atmosphere and classy décor at Hanshuyuan (韩顺沅韩国炭火烤肉专门店) really stand out from most of the other Korean restaurants in Qingdao. And even though this is a Korean restaurant, you'll still notice subtle Chinese influences in the flavour of many dishes (which in this case, is a good thing). Simply put, this place is a meat lover's paradise, so vegetarians beware! Hearty favourites such as traditional Korean barbecue, pork belly, and beef tongue are all popular amongst the locals, as is Hanshunyuan's delicious homemade barbecue sauce—one bite and you'll surely be hooked. As with all Korean barbecue joints, the barbecue is do-it-yourself, making it a great choice for partying with friends or going on a fun first date. Recommended dishes: pork belly (五花肉), fatty beef (肥牛), mashed potatoes (土豆泥) and stone pot bibimbap (石锅拌饭).

Chunchuan Iron Plate Chicken (春川铁板鸡) is one of the best places to sample Korean hometown fare in Qingdao. Their most famous dish is their namesake: Iron Chicken. The dish has cabbage, glutinous rice cake, sweet potato, and chicken. The flavour is a bit on the spicy side, but it's a really great treat if you can handle the heat. The portions are also quite good—three people can easily share a two-person serving. Since much this Korean restaurant's fare tends to be hot and spicy, it's recommended that you come here during the winter months.
